Livewire Electrical is a registered electrical contractor in Kumeū doing the bigger planned jobs in Auckland homes: full and partial rewires, switchboard upgrades, EV charger installation and heat pump installation. Quotes are fixed and itemised, work runs Monday to Friday, and every job finishes with a Certificate of Compliance.
Residential electrician services in Auckland
Most of our home work is bigger and planned. Rewires typically run $5,000 to $40,000, switchboard upgrades $2,500 to $5,000 and EV chargers $1,500 to $3,500, and every price is fixed and itemised before we start.
Lighting, smart home and smaller jobs
Outdoor and garden lighting from $2,000, LED upgrades and smart home wiring, plus ceiling fans, extractor fans and rangehoods. We fit smaller jobs around our bigger ones, so book a week or two ahead.
Older homes
Most Auckland houses built before the 1970s were wired for a fraction of today's load. Fuses in the board, tripping, warm power points and cloth wiring are the usual signs a rewire or switchboard upgrade is due.

Newer homes
Newer homes want more from the same board: an EV charger, a heat pump, outdoor lighting and smart switching. We check capacity first so the extra load goes in safely, once.

Residential electrician FAQs
Straight answers on rewire costs, fixed quotes and the Auckland suburbs we cover. Anything else, call 09 390 7966.
Do you take smaller jobs like ceiling fans and rangehoods?
Yes. We fit smaller jobs like ceiling fans, extractor fans and rangehoods around our bigger work, so it's worth booking a week or two ahead. You still get a fixed quote and a Certificate of Compliance.
Do you do emergency callouts or weekend work?
No. We work Monday to Friday, 7:30am to 5pm, on planned jobs. That way the jobs we take get finished properly on the day we said. For a power cut, check with your lines company first, and for a dangerous fault after hours, call an after-hours electrician.
What is a Certificate of Compliance?
It's the paperwork that shows the electrical work meets New Zealand regulations. You get one on every job we do. Keep it with your house records, because your insurer can ask for it and so will a buyer's lawyer when you sell.
Do I need a switchboard upgrade before an EV charger or heat pump?
Not always. We check your switchboard's capacity and condition first. If it still has fuses, has no room for a new circuit or has no RCD protection, it needs upgrading before the charger or heat pump goes in, and we include that in the same quote.
Can you quote from photos?
Often, yes. Send photos of your switchboard and the area the work is in, and we can usually price switchboard upgrades, EV chargers and lighting jobs from those. Bigger jobs like rewires need a site visit first so we can see the ceiling and underfloor space.
