Harbourside homes in Birkenhead and Northcote Point

The harbour end of the Shore has older homes on steep sections, plus a lot of rebuilds and renovations. Kitchens, outdoor living and EV charging are the usual reasons people call. In Northcote Point we have supplied and installed a full set of kitchen appliances: oven, rangehood and cooktop.

In Birkenhead we fitted two outdoor power points for a plug-in hybrid charger, commissioned a pool heat pump alongside the landscapers building the pool, and ran a new circuit to a 3kW outdoor hot water cylinder where underfloor access was tight.

Takapuna apartments, shops and showrooms

Takapuna has more apartments than anywhere else we cover on the Shore, so a lot of the work comes through property managers. We keep the paperwork tidy so they can pass it straight on to the body corporate. Corridor and stairwell lighting has to work for residents, and we fixed a flickering communal corridor light for one building.

Retail work is about keeping the doors open. We found and fixed a tripping fault at a Takapuna plumbing showroom without stopping trade, and wired a customer-supplied Audi EV charger to the car maker's specification.

Salt air on the Hibiscus Coast

Further north, Orewa and the Whangaparāoa Peninsula sit right on the coast. Standard outdoor fittings corrode quickly in salt air, and corroded fittings let water in, which leads to tripping and dead lights. Rural Dairy Flat sits between us and the coast, with long cable runs to sheds, pumps and gates.

We use marine-grade fittings with a high IP rating for anything outside, and check switchgear in garages and sheds for the same corrosion. The newer subdivisions around Gulf Harbour are wired well, but older baches and 1970s homes along the coast often need switchboard upgrades once a renovation adds new load.
