Waimauku is about seven kilometres west of Livewire's Kumeū base along State Highway 16, so it gets the same quick response as Kumeū and is our second most established suburb. Common work is electric gate repairs, fault-finding on older rural properties with combined wetback, solar and electric hot water, and school maintenance at Waimauku School. Fixed quotes and a Certificate of Compliance on every job.

Homes in Waimauku

Seven kilometres down State Highway 16

Waimauku is about 7km west of our Kumeū base along SH16, on the road out to Muriwai. After Kumeū itself it is one of the places we work most often, so a Waimauku booking is a normal part of our week.

The area is a mix of lifestyle blocks, market gardens and rural subdivisions along the highway. Long driveways and outbuildings mean plenty of cable runs a long way from the switchboard, and older farmhouse boards that were never meant to feed them.

Hot water on older rural properties

Many older homes here heat their water three ways: a wetback on the fire, solar panels on the roof and an electric element as backup. When the water goes cold, any one of the three could be the cause.

We work through each system in turn and only replace the part that has actually failed. That is cheaper than swapping the cylinder and hoping, and you know exactly what was wrong.

Working in Waimauku with Livewire

Gates, pumps and the local school

Lifestyle blocks rely on electric gates and water pumps, and both tend to stop at the worst time. We repaired one Waimauku gate motor on a same-afternoon visit after a weed eater damaged it, so the owners had their access back that day.

We also do maintenance work at Waimauku School, including a tender for electrical work on the toilet block that serves classrooms 22 to 28. School work is planned around the timetable and the holidays.

Fantastic team! Our request was answered promptly and professionally. The electrician sent to our home, Tom, was efficient, friendly and great communicator. I also appreciated the tidiness at the work site after finishing and during the work. We are satisfied with the work carried out- moving and installing tricky PowerPoints in a kitchen and tiled bathroom. I will definitely be using this team again.

Jared and Tom were very friendly and efficient. Their workmanship was excellent. They were prompt on arrival, tidy with tools and equipment. They then tested the work they had done and did not leave the property until they, and myself, were satisfied that the job was to a high standard and working perfectly.

Absolutely A+ was my experience with Annette and the team. Had house electrical issues, Vector kept telling us it was our issue to sort...Livewire listened and diagnosed over the phone, pointed us back to Vector to sort it. Saved us a call out and no charge for advice. Awesome service and will be our first port of call next time. Thanks again

Thank you livewire electrical. The office team were chipper and helpful on the phone. Appointment was set to suit my schedule. Tom, the sparky, was prompt. He did a great job to fix all our problems. He was polite, cheerful and fixed everything in no time. Pricing is very reasonable. I'd like to give bonus points from the dog to Tom. She appreciated to be able to spectate your work 😁
