Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost to add a power point in Auckland?

Adding a power point in Auckland typically costs between $150 and $350 fitted. Pricing depends on cable run, wall finish and whether a new circuit is required.

Can power points be added to older homes?

Yes. We can add power points to most older Auckland homes. We check the existing circuit capacity and switchboard during the site visit and recommend any upgrades.

Will adding outlets overload my switchboard?

Not if sized correctly. We calculate the load on the existing circuit and add new circuits where needed so your switchboard stays within safe limits.

Can USB and USB-C outlets be installed?

Yes. We install combo outlets with USB-A and USB-C ports built in, ideal for bedrooms, kitchens, offices and bedside tables.

How long does outlet installation take?

A standard outlet swap takes 30 to 60 minutes. New outlets with cable runs take one to three hours per outlet depending on access.

Can outdoor power outlets be installed?

Yes. We install IP-rated weatherproof outdoor power outlets for decks, gardens, EV chargers and outbuildings.

Is installing new outlets safer than using multi-boards?

Yes. Permanently fixed outlets are far safer than chained multi-boards which can overheat and cause fires. Adding outlets to suit your needs is the right long-term solution.

Can outlets be installed in kitchen islands?

Yes. We install pop-up, recessed and surface-mounted island outlets that meet NZ kitchen wiring rules and IP requirements.

Is certification included with outlet installation?

Yes. All work is certified with a Certificate of Compliance from a registered Auckland electrician.

What are signs I need more power outlets?

Signs include relying on multi-boards and extension leads, warm or discoloured outlets, breakers tripping when multiple appliances run, or running cords across walkways.
